how many "i don't know"s can one say

without saying it with its intended meaning?

 

it's like a game of tag

back and forth

whatever happened to "no tagbacks!" ?

are

a puzzle,

 

and i'm looking for the pieces

to put you together

and see what you're really made of.

 

i'm TIRED

of fumbling with the pieces

picking them up only to misfit them

looking at them

hoping my gaze will shift the edges.

 

i'm SICK

of getting lost with the "i don't know"s

suddenly you're a game of Scrabble

with each "i don't know"

a puzzle-piece of you is eliminated.

 

but i don't want to play Scrabble

screw Scrabble.

 

 

but the progress, or rather,

lack of progress,

turns me

without the same caution

without the same care.

 

 

 

i wonder how far patience goes

to duel it out with you,

a puzzle.

 

don't we tend to forget that?

 

when we're studying for our tests,

cheating on studybooks,

we're always worrying about the tomorrows.

 

but what about today?

 

i never really understood what it meant
to live in the moment.

 

but now i do.
