our greatest folly.

What you got if you ain't got love
The kind that you just want to give away
It's ok to open up
Go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it's hard on a rainy day
You wanna shut the world out and just be left alone
But don't run out on your faith

Cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And when you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else seem
So small

It's so easy to get lost inside
A problem that seems so big at the time
It's like a river that's so wide it swallows you whole
While you're sitting around thinking about what you can't change

And worrying about all the wrong things
Time's flying by, moving so fast
You better make it count cause you can't get it back
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
Oh, and when you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else seem
So small, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And then you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Oh, it sure makes everything else seem
So small

So Small - Carrie Underwood

that time of year.

tomorrow's that
day of the year again.

funny how
by now
the hurt is fading fast.

what used to sting
like needles
are softer
like pinpricks.

i remember a time
when i was scared of saying goodbye
to you,

because it meant our hellos would never be the same again.

but it's funny
how time pushed us
apart
but
together.

'cause in knowing
i wouldn't go back to that time these years ago
i've learned to accept that what we had will always be ours.

and that's all i need really.

so i'm a day early this year,
that's fine.

time often comes in too early to heal our wounds
when all we want to do is hold onto them
and cherish how onceuponatime,
they didn't exist.

but then, we figure out that it's alright
to be early sometimes.

NO MAPS

nothing's guaranteed.

seems like,
we spend half our lives

learning how to accept

with the wrongs we find in the past
with the obstacles we fear in the future.

half the time
it's like we're stumbling
everywhere and nowhere
all at once,

crazy?
fails to define
what this feels like.

we fall in so many places
foreign fields of jealousy
distant lands of insecurity
unknown worlds of fear.
of emotion.

goosebumps?
fail to illustrate
what this feels like.

where's a map
when you need one most?
where is anything
when you need it most?

though we claim
to be there
for each other
always,

sometimes the only one that needs to be there
is yourself.
the need for yourself tends to be hidden by
the need for someone else.

so this need for a map
is not a need at all.

we'll figure this out
only when we fall
do we learn to pick ourselves up.

alone
yet with each other.

so i was studying biology
but i got a headache
and here i am!

this seems to make sense now
but i'm not sure about later on.

piece-to-piece.

in tears
lies bravery
in silence
lies honesty

in patience
lies virtue.

blind perfection.

when you LOOK into that full-length mirror of yours,
what do you SEE?

the right clothes,
from the uttermost top of top brands
that lurk all over your outfit
secretly gushing how expensive you are.

the primped hair,
styled and straightened and permed
until your virgin hair isn't so chastised anymore.

the manicured nails,
oh and don't forget those toes!
all cut and suffocated with the "necessary" layers of varnish.

the Anna Sui, Chanel, Dior, and MAC
applied evenly but unjustly,
allow the colourful packages to work their magic
as they "highlight" your prominent features
and "hide" the unfavourable ones.

where's the iPod Touch?
where's the Louis Vuitton?
where's the Blackberry?

are you ready now?

take one last LOOK,
flash us your pearly whites (thank heaven for Crest!)
admire how they contrast the blood red lipstick.

in fact,
admire what you SEE.
indulge in narcissism.
go ahead, 'cause who should be stopping you
is staring back at you.

now, are you ready?

good,
patience is a virtue - isn't that what they say?
now where'd that gosh darn plastic go?
