August 25 say what?it's funny how
the emotions we'd been taught
never seem adequate,
adequate to describe
to define - everything that
we are capable of feeling.
because we are capable
of feeling so much.
we know words like,
sadness.
but is that all?
we can feel
betrayal. suicidal.
hurt to its fullest extent.
we commit to
saying words like,
hate.
i hate you.
throwing them out
without concern or regret.
without realising
what we inflict on another:
sadness.
we know words like,
happiness.
but that's not all.
we can feel
joy. ecstasy.
completion to its fullest extent.
but we were never taught
the concern or regret that
came packaged with
happiness.
suddenly,
expressing yourself
is a risk.
suddenly,
committing to words
is not of our capability.
words like,
love -
are lost upon this feeling,
happiness. August 06 grandFather."WE CAN ONLY LEARN TO LOVE
BY LOVING." IRIS MURDOCH

he was a learner,
always.
he had such perseverance
and discipline,
always.
he taught me to be the same
for always.
(it's been three weeks.)
